The Process of Creating Cyclone Models

  1. Understanding Project Requirements:
    The process begins by understanding the project requirements, available scan data, site conditions, and the expected output. The required level of detail and accuracy for the final model are identified.
  2. Laser Scanning and Data Collection:
    3D laser scanners are used to capture accurate measurements of the existing building, structure, or site. The collected information contains millions of points representing the physical environment.
  3. Importing and Processing Scan Data:
    The captured scan data is imported into Leica Cyclone software for processing. Unnecessary or incorrect data is removed, and the point cloud is cleaned to improve the quality and accuracy of the project.
  4. Point Cloud Registration:
    Multiple scans from different locations are aligned and combined into a single coordinated point cloud. Registration ensures that all scanned areas are accurately positioned relative to each other.
  5. Point Cloud Modeling:
    The processed point cloud is used as a reference to identify and model existing architectural, structural, and MEP elements. Accurate dimensions and geometric information are extracted from the scanned environment.
  6. Review and Quality Checking:
    The completed point cloud and model are reviewed for accuracy, alignment, missing information, and potential errors. Measurements and model elements are checked against the original scan data.
  7. Finalizing the Model:
    Once the data is verified, the finalized point cloud and model are prepared for BIM coordination, architectural or structural documentation, renovation, as-built drawings, and other project requirements.

This structured process ensures accurate processing of laser scan data and provides a reliable digital representation of existing conditions for BIM and construction projects.
